This is Barbra Pershan, a sixty-seven year old grandmother. She needs to get ready for Passover.

Before she can bring in any kosher-for-Passover food she must first put all the non-kosher-for-Passover food (chumtz) in the back room and cover it.

She also must clean out the freezer so she can defrost it and put Passover food in it.

After getting the House ready she needs to go shopping. She has to check all the food she buy for a heksher, a symbol showing that it is kosher-for-Passover.

She stops to talk to the YU student behind the counter as she gets some of her food from the kosher deli. It is the only one in the greater Hartford area, so she is very familiar with those who work there.

Checking out after buying all the food for Passover is quit a process so Barbara helps bag

Finally Passover comes; Barbra Pershan goes to the local Chabad for the first Seder. She waits outside with the Rabbi until it is time to start.
